Fun Facts
I am a part of the club swim team at Loyola and competed at the National Championships in Atlanta, Georgia this past April. I am very involved in campus ministry at Loyola and in my parish back home. My favorite place to be in the world is at the beach. I love to travel--especially to warm places!
About Me
I attend maryland">Loyola University Maryland and am majoring in Accounting. I will be a sophomore at Loyola next year. After college I plan on becoming a certified public accountant to work at a public firm. In 15 years I hope to have a great career and be settled in a nice community with a family of my own.
In high school, as part of my experience on National Honor Society, I tutored a sixth grader in math. We met a few times a week and I was able to help her go from a D in the class to a B. I also informally detroit">tutor peers in many of my classes and help them when they are struggling with certain concepts, homework assignments, or projects. I also have experience working with children because I have taught swim lessons since the spring of 2011. While this is not considered academic detroit">tutoring, it allowed me to learn how to interact with children and how to teach in the most engaging way.
I try to make detroit">tutoring as fun as possible. I like to reinforce how useful the skills you are learning will be later in life. It's easy to think that certain things will never come up in our daily lives but that is mostly false. If I can give real world examples to teach the concepts, then kids will be more likely to remember them. I also love pneumonic devices and other memory tricks because that is how I remember things most effectively. If you can associate a goofy phrase with a concept, I can guarantee that it will be pretty hard to forget that concept.
