Fun Facts

I love to backpack and hike, and have over 200 miles of trails under my boots from the last few summers. I also love reading and Role Playing Games (RPG's). I'm the oldest of three children, and my all time favorite food is Chicken and Waffles. I'm very good at singing in the shower, and hope one day to be brave enough to try karaoke.

About Me

I am a second year honors student at Colorado State University. I have made the Dean's list every semester I have been enrolled, in multiple colleges, and hope to join the honors fraternity Phi Beta Kappa next year. After graduation, I plan to pursue a Masters in Public Health with a focus in underserved communities as well as licensure as a certified American Sign Language Interpreter to be able to provide equal access, equal opportunity, stress free interactions with all my future clients.

Experience

In high school as part of the National Honor Society I tutored elementary and middle school children as part of a school success program, and on my own time tutored the children I babysat regularly. More recently, I've tutored friends and classmates in my university courses, and have been named as the reason for success in class by many of those I tutored. I'm passionate about seeing people learn and grow, and I'm excited to help people gain confidence in their learning working at Frog Tutoring!

Approach

Growing up, I struggled in school socially as a girl in the STEM fields, and identifying as a scholar - when learning wasn't always the 'cool' thing to do. I didn't want to draw attention to myself and would try and hide what I knew to avoid teasing, and fit in and I was very lost. Fortunately, I found a like-minded group of friends and a teacher who saw what I was hiding and encouraged me to embrace myself. As a tutor, I hope to nurture the same self-confidence in all of my students.

Reading Comprehension Tutoring

As a social sciences major, I am often reading research articles. At first I struggles with these, because I moved too fast and didn't know what I was looking for or what I was supposed to be processing. As a result, I have developed a very good method to help with my comprehension, and I would love to share it with you!
