Fun Facts
I have traveled to fifteen countries. For three years I taught college in Hawaii (during the summer). During the school year, I am a prefect (RA) in the dormitory at my school, which houses 50 international students. I was born and raised in Philadelphia.
About Me
I have two Masters degrees, in English and Education. I have 25 years teaching experience. I have had one article and one interview of a new author published. I once received a "Teacher of the Year" award in all of St. Charles County.
When I was a senior in high school, I tutored first graders. It was then that I decided I liked teaching. Most of my tutoring since then has been in my capacity as an English and Film instructor, which I have done for 25 years. During this time, of course, I have met with students countless times for one-on-one instruction. I have also tutored for standardized testing, upon the request of some students and their parents. In addition, I have held adjunct positions at universities at least a dozen times.
My approach to tutoring will essentially be diagnostic. I will see where my student is, and where he or she has to get, and then work on making that progress. Though I am always willing to help, the responsibility for learning and improving remains on the student--but if a student is willing, I can help him or her reach the goal!
