Fun Facts
I love learning languages! I speak some Nepali and some Spanish. It's very satisfying to speak with people in them, especially when the minutes go by and one realizes a real conversation is happening, all in the target language.
Some languages I'd like to learn in the future include Bambara, Italian, Portugese, and French.
About Me
I am a full-time tutor, with a background in software engineering, science, and mathematics. I worked as a full-time software engineer for 5.5 years, and worked in software development part-time for 5 years before that. My goal is to continue to grow my tutoring business and help students succeed.
Experience
I graduated from high school at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in 2007.
I received a score of 2160 on the SAT I test (750 math, 750 verbal, 660 writing), and scores of 5 on AP Calculus BC and AP Physics B.
I then graduated from Williams College with a degree in astronomy in 2011. I'm interested in world travel, and was able to study abroad in Senegal, Nepal, and Nicaragua in college.
I'm a lifelong learner and enjoy sharing what I've learned with others, including through tutoring
Approach
I take the approach of not assuming any background, nor lack of background, from the student. I meet the student where they are and build up a plan to help the student succeed. I also try to focus on the fundamentals in the subjects that I teach, and to relate specific cases and exercises back to those fundamentals whenever possible. That way students can begin to see the patterns and interconnections underlying the subjects that they study, which is one of the keys to mastery.
