Fun Facts
People always hear me recommending new science fiction books I've read; a hobby I've had since I was fourteen! I love to travel and get out of my comfort zone too. I have visited over fifteen countries to this day and my favorites are Switzerland, Russia, and Romania (I camped in Transylvania!). I'm always in my element in nature as well, having visited many internationally protected wildlife regions.
About Me
I just recently graduated from Texas Christian University in May of 2019 with a Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry, magna cum laude. I was on the Dean's list for four semesters (two years) and had the Dean's Scholarship as well. I hope to pursue higher education in biochemistry with a focus on laboratory research, though I have always had a passion for teaching biology and chemistry that I could also see materializing into a career.
Experience
During my time as a junior in high school, I quickly realized I had an aptitude for biological and chemical sciences. I peer-tutored chemistry/texas/austin">AP Chemistry in my senior year and was then recommended by my Chemistry II professor in my freshman year of college to tutor chemistry through the university's Pre-Health Professions Department. I tutored Chemistry I/II for the next year and a half of college. I have worked with as few as one person and as many as twenty-five at once, finding my element in both!
Approach
I think it's of utmost importance to let the student know that it is okay to be confused about something, and not to let it discourage them. One of my math teachers once said that nothing can be truly learned without first being confused by the subject. My goal is to guide them through the confusion to come to the answer themselves so that they can excel when I'm not present. It is important that they have this confidence in themselves in order to be an inquisitive scholar in any subject.
