Fun Facts

Possibly my favorite thing to do in the world is play piano. I play guitar too, but playing guitar doesn't have the same magic as piano does. I'm so passionate about piano, but also so private, that you can find me in my college commons at terrible hours in the night, playing the piano there after everyone else has gone to bed. I also like to write--both prose and music, dance (but it's awful, trust me), and play video games. More than anything else though, I love interacting with people.

About Me

I am a sophomore at Rice University, majoring in Mathematical Economic Analysis and History. I am not particularly sure about my plans post-graduation, but my options include working as a business analyst, going to law school, or working for Teach for America.

Though I have no professional experience in houston">tutoring, I have tutored sparingly since middle school. Especially as a member of the my high school band (I played oboe), I tutored fellow band members who were at risk of failing. After graduation, I helped houston">tutor a struggling cousin for her math-middle-school/texas/houston">middle school math class, and have also tutored my niece.

When I approach houston">tutoring, I always begin with an obvious question: "Where are you struggling?" This seems like a simple first step. Next, I like to watch the student work a problem, or--in the case of writing--read existing work, to try and identify where the student struggles, whether it be in the process or the comprehension of the material. I then show them how I personally approach these problems, and help the student through material, gradually reducing my assistance until the student can complete the objectives on his/her own.
