Fun Facts
My greatest passion is learning. I don't know how fun that is for a lot of people, but I'm never having more fun than when I'm in the classroom engaged in an academic discussion. Nearly matching my enthusiasm for learning, is my love for hockey. I grew up playing the sport and went to Canada to play in nationwide tournaments.
About Me
I am a Junior English major at UIC. After my undergrad is complete, I plan to pursue a PhD in English with the final goal of becoming an English Professor.
I am currently enrolled in a chicago">tutoring class at UIC which allows me to work in the writing center with English as a second language learners to graduate students composing complex essays. Throughout the semester I have seen many students and they have all varied in writing skill and English comprehension. In addition to formal experience, I am the "essay editor" for friends and family. I love helping people, and helping people through my field of study is especially rewarding to me. With this experience I am confident that I will be able to help a student no matter what their difficulties may be.
I have had a terrible experience with school from 4th grade through high-school. I went for a semester of junior college after high-school and did terribly. I went back to school in 2010 and have been an A/B student ever since. I feel that because of my current success and past failures with school, I can reach out and make an impact on a student no matter what their track record in school has been. I have learned a lot from my past failures and I have a desire to pass on what I've learned to other students.
