Fun Facts
I like to bake French pastries and try to make them dairy-free. I used to be a competitive swimmer and a brain tumor researcher. I play the bass guitar and love to learn new alternative/indie/class rock songs, among other genres. I enjoy writing, skiing, trying new foods and traveling. I also love to go ballroom dancing and learned to salsa in Cuba.
About Me
I am a college instructor for Anatomy and Physiology at a local community college. I earned a B.S. in Physiology with a Chemistry minor. During college, I was a pre-medical student and joined a brain tumor research lab. I loved the research so much that I stayed there for my master's degree in Cell and Molecular Biology. I worked in brain tumor, sleep physiology, and then immunotherapy research before opening a tutoring company.
Experience
As a graduate student, I had the opportunity to teach Anatomy labs at my school. I also led journal clubs and workshops for new and growing student researchers. After graduate school, I worked as a researcher while discovering my passion for teaching. When I’m not tutoring, I teach college Biology classes and love it.
Approach
As a kid, I suffered from ADD and it took me several years to understand how I learn best. I've read numerous books on study skills and have spent my life perfecting them as I go. With each student, I try to make an individualized plan to make them feel empowered in their academic journey.
