Fun Facts

One of my favorite things to do is to travel. I love getting to experience things in new places whenever I can! Although, my favorite place to go will forever be Disney World! Another fun fact about me is that I got to meet Vice President Biden when I was in college and attended his speaking event. He even took a selfie with me!

About Me

I am a 3rd grade teacher at an elementary school in West Haven, CT. I absolutely love my job! Getting to witness young minds blossom is one of my greatest joys. I received a Bachelor's degree in History from the pittsburgh">University of Pittsburgh and a Master's degree in Elementary Education from connecticut-state-university">Southern Connecticut State University.

Experience

I have worked in the public school system for six years now. In college, I served with Jumpstart in a Pittsburgh preschool, and mainly focused on literacy skills. When I graduated, I worked as a third grade teacher, then left to get my Master's degree and worked as a literacy paraprofessional for those few years. After graduating with my Master's, I began working again as a classroom teacher, first in 4th grade and now again in 3rd grade.

Approach

I've always preferred a more hands-on approach to learning. Children can learn from seeing and listening, but that understanding goes so much deeper when they actually get to experience something or practice the skill themselves. In my teaching, I try to use as few worksheets as possible and instead focus on project-based learning. This not only encourages the learning of the particular skill that we are working on, but also encourages those critical thinking skills that are so important!
