Fun Facts
I love dogs. When I go to someone's house and there is a dog, I find that dog and make it be my friend.
About Me
I am first grade teacher in Central Illinois. I am originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and am married to PhD Student at the University of Illinois. We have one dog and a baby on the way. I went to Clemson University to get my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education and got my Masters degree in education/illinois/chicago">Special Education at Saint Louis University.
Experience
I have taught elementary school for two years and worked as a teacher's aide teaching guided reading groups and guided writing groups to Kindergartners for one year prior. While in college I had many opportunities to work one on one or in small groups with Elementary Age students as part of my degree. I also worked in the Clemson Life program which helps students with disabilities get a college degree and work on campus. I helped students manage their work study schedules and homework schedules.
Approach
I think a huge part of teaching, and therefore tutoring, is building relationships with students that allow me as a teacher to understand where that student is and how to help them where they are at. I need to know personal interests and learning styles and what resonates with each student to better help them.
