Fun Facts

I enjoy being outdoors and playing all kinds of sports. In high school I played football, basketball, and baseball, but I now find myself playing golf and fishing in my spare time. Something most people do not know about me is that I write left handed, but I do everything else right handed. I am the second youngest of four siblings, and I grew up in a very busy house because we are all very close in age.

About Me

In December of 2011 I completed my college education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and a minor in Chemistry from the portland">University of Portland. I am from Denver, Colorado but I currently live in Portland, Oregon. During college I worked as a columnist for the school newspaper and I did biochemistry research with a University professor, and recently presented my research at the regional conference of the Murdock college science research program. I plan to take a year off and apply to medical school with the hopes of one day becoming an orthopedic surgeon.

In high school I worked each summer as a coach for a basketball camp in my community. The camp had multiple sessions with children ages 5 to 15. My role was to help out with camp drills and I was assigned a group of children to lead and teach them the fundamentals and sportsmanship of basketball. In college I worked as a chemistry workshop leader and portland">tutor for freshmen and sophomores. In this job I met once a week for two hours with a class of students and created a lesson plan that went over the material that was presented in class. I have had numerous experiences with one on one portland">tutoring with students that had questions or were struggling with the material. I also volunteered at a community elementary school to present and teach the children a fun topic in the world of science.

Growing up I had many struggles to overcome with learning, and I have had many experiences with different kinds of portland">tutors and teachers that helped me with subjects all the way through high school. It is through these experiences that I can help a student that is struggling with a subject, because I have been there before. I feel as though it is best for the student to come to the solutions on their own, as this will help to ensure that they will remember the material better in the future. I understand that every student learns in a different way. I think it is important to find out the best way each student learns, then use
