Fun Facts
When I'm not taking care of my one- and four-year-old kids, I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, camping, reading, and drawing.
About Me
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, and a Ph.D. in Biology from Wayne State University.
Experience
2020. During my doctoral studies, I was a graduate teaching assistant for 4 years. During my undergrad at UM-Dearborn, I tutored peers in biology and English. I have extensive experience working with children. I worked as a swim instructor for 6 years, and as a student naturalist for 2 years in which I led field trips of elementary and middle schoolers through a natural area and taught them about various organisms. In addition, I am a mom to a 1-year-old and a 4-year-old who has autism.
Approach
Through my years of experience as a student, I've recognized an important pattern in learning: as students progress through their education, they are expected to increasingly take ownership of their learning. This is a difficult transition for many students, so in addition to helping my students with the specific subject matter, I also help students develop study strategies and time management skills that work for them.
