Fun Facts
One fun fact about myself that isn’t curriculum related is that I love to draw, and everything about creativity. My sport passions are swimming and diving, and I have a little dog named shadow that is abnormally smart. As a hobby, I help out at my aunt’s care home for autistic adults and help them function independently.
About Me
I’m a sophomore in Marketing at Howard University, with an surprising background in robotics and engineering. I switched my major because I hope to use my marketing degree to aid in the entrepreneurship boom of our current generation.
Experience
Throughout my academic career I have always been in Honors and AP classes and have even tutored middle school students as a form of income in high school. I was the captain of the robotics team and even participated in mentor programs to help get young women into STEM. After being accepted into Howard university and completing my freshman year in Civil Engineering, I switched my major to marketing in hopes of combining my degree with my Literature abilities to become a patent lawyer.
Approach
As a child, it was difficult for me to ask for help with my academics because I feared that needing a tutor would mean that I was less intelligent than my peers. This caused me to overwork myself with the wrong study methods and ultimately become frustrated. I needed an A and would beat myself up over the C I would get instead. However, after finally putting my pride aside, my tutor helped me learn through an entirely new lens, and I realized there’s nothing wrong with asking for help!
