Fun Facts
I have always loved science! Growing up I was always curious about how things worked and why they worked the way they did. But not only was I a proud nerd, I also loved playing sports. I started playing sports at the age of three and continued up until my freshman year of high school.
About Me
I am a nerd who loves space, math, and science. I am a Physics major finishing my senior year of college. I did my freshman year at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, MA. After graduating I plan on teaching physics and math at the high school level.
In high school, I was very involved in the Texas Technology Student's Association and their yearly engineering competitions, one of which I placed 1st in state. I was also a member of the National and Spanish Honor Societies. The program I participated in that meant the most to me was Peer Assistance and Leadership program (PALS) where I had the opportunity to mentor and washington/washington/kirkland">kirkland">tutor kids in elementary schools. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and being a role model as someone they could trust and respect.
Experience
I have worked at various high schools over the years helping students who are falling behind in their classes catch up. I have also worked extensively with ELL students. I have also taken various education classes in college.
Approach
Concepts are the most important things to learn at school. Concepts are the foundations upon which teachers build. Albert Einstein once said "If you can't explain it simply, you don't understand it well enough,” and I believe that to be absolutely true. My approach to washington/washington/kirkland">kirkland">tutoring is to help the student understand the concepts and be able to focus on the root of the subject, and everything else will follow.

Middle School Math Tutoring
I have tutored ACT and SAT test prep in the past. I specialize in the Math portion (I scored a 35 in high school), although I also scored above a 30 on the science portion. Every student whom I have helped has been able to raise their scores on the math and science sections.
Elementary Math Tutoring
I have experience helping elementary students understand various math classes. I have figured out ways that, in my experience, help students understand the concept at its core rather than the repetitive solving methods which do not work. I have never gotten below an A in a grade school math class.
